"New Looks"
This weekend in The New York Times Magazine, Rob Walker wrote an article about my work and the path it has taken. I like a lot of the things Rob writes about on his blog and in his weekly 'Consumed' column, so I was stoked when he mentioned he wanted to write something about what I was up to.

Erik Parker & Max Henry curated an excellent group show titled JEKYLL ISLAND at HONOR FRASER in LA.
If you're anywhere on the west coast it's well worth the trip.

i-D Magazine just put up this short film directed Jake & Kate Sumner.

A new exhibition by Keiichi Nitta at gogallery.
I'm really bummed I will not be able to see this show.

Today I received advance copies of the July issue of i-D Magazine. This was
one of the largest magazine projects I have worked on to date. It was a lot
of work but I would gladly do it over again (and again, and again.)
The support I received from friends who took time out of their busy
schedules to contribute was awesome, so thank you. Another
great part about this project was that I interviewed Nigo - my first time as
interviewer. I got to be really open and ask him a bunch of things I wanted
to know about in the past, but was too polite to ask. To top it all off, the
printing job on the issue was amazing. The cover and inside spreads look
super bright and clean. A special thanks to Terry and Tricia Jones, and
again to everyone at i-D and to those who contributed...

Edison Chen stopped by the studio yesterday to get lunch and catch up.

He's been working on a lot of new projects lately and brought some new samples for me to check out. These "Visvim Clot Royale Christo" will be released exclusively at Juice HK later this month.

My friend Max also slipped this photo and drawing under my door. I'm stoked Max rides my board in the neighborhood. You can check out his art in the OriginalFake issue of Arkitip I organized last year.

(he might also have the largest KAWS toy collection in Brooklyn)

I went to see the Tadanori Yokoo Be Adventurous! exhibition at Setagaya Art Museum with Katayama from Wonderwall.
It was a really amazing show including many original drawings from the '60's and '70's. There's also an excellent catalogue that was published for the exhibition. Ends 6/15/08, so try to see it, it's definitely worth the trip!

We also went to Takashi Murakami's "Geisai Museum #2"

The show was packed with a lot of young talent. I was happy to meet this artist and picked up two Rolex watches.

Last time I was in Tokyo I received this great incense holder from the guys at SMOKE & MIRRORS

Dumbo incense has been getting a lot of use in the studio lately.

Took a trip out to LA for some meetings and got to see the Glow in the Dark tour. Incredible performances from beginning to end. Try to see it if you can!

NIGO opened his LA shop the following night. The store looks amazing and the palm trees out front fit perfect.

Satoko kept the opening party in order!

Got to spend a bit of time with Darren Romanelli. He totally hooked me up and even introduced me to his secret eye doctor. Thanks Darren!

I stayed at this new hotel called PALIHOUSE. Next time you're planning to spend some time in LA and want to stay at a place with great friendly service; I can't say enough good things about this place but book early because rooms go fast.

THEY HAVE NO FEET!

Phil has a great new book published by Damiani. It's 162 pages of paintings, street work, and studio shots from the early 90's to present. I was happy to see it in my neighborhood book shop but you can also pick it up here.

This is a drawing we did over ten years ago.

If you're lucky enough to be in Switzerland, check out a new series of paintings by Mark that opened on Feb. 22nd at Milieu Gallery.

NIGO stopped by the studio and I pulled out some older work for him to see; it's always nice catching up with him.

I also had a visit from Kei. If you know Kei, then no explanation is necessary for this photo.

I made him and his two staff empty all their cameras when they entered.

He brought me this pudding from Japan and insisted that it tasted great. (I believe you, Kei)

I went to go see my friend Tito perform with his band MOLOTOV.

Last week Michael Dupouy stopped by my studio with Pedro and So Me. Michael dropped off copies of his new book ALL GONE.

Also, another great project by Mark Ronson, Rhymefest's 'Man in the Mirror' - well worth checking out!

To kick off the S/S season of OriginalFake, I called on the artistic talents of Mark Dean Veca.
I love working with Mark because I don't know what I'm going to get back, and it's always better than I had imagined.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Clot invited several actresses to collaborate with them for a special "Fantasy" t-shirt series. This time around the actress was Shu Qi and I was asked to work over the photo for a special New Years release.

This is a new figure I made with the Japanese artist Santa Inoue. I liked Hasheem long before I met Santa, but after meeting him in Tokyo through our mutual friend Oka, I got to see his studio and ended up really getting along with him. I'm glad we were able to collaborate on this together.
Hasheeme will release at Santastic and OriginalFake this Saturday in Tokyo, and at kawsone.com tomorrow (12/21) at noon.

This past Monday night I went to the release party for a new book "Mascots & Mugs" by
Todd "Reas" James & David "Chino" Villorente. This book focuses on the
cartoons and characters of graffiti, and it's a very informative read.

This is a new site for artists all over the world to post samples of their work. it only launched this past Thursday but I think this site will be huge!
