WE ARE FRIENDS - TEST TRAILER
My friend Stebs has a new project he would like you to see and support through IndieGOGO if possible!
We Are Friends - Test Trailer from Paper Fortress on Vimeo.
We Are Friends began in 2008 in Vancouver as a twisted idea for a fight scene and has since evolved into a monster of a feature film. We are Massachusetts natives and long-time friends Stebs Schinnerer and Trevor Moore, and we've been pointing cameras at each other for the past decade-plus. Now we're possessed by a mutual vision we can't shake: a movie about movies, violence, vanity, friendship and politics-- an autobiography with a touch of allegory. Organic and genuine, the film draws heavily from the lives and talents of the creators and their friends. The project is as independent as it is ambitious.
Weaving elements of docufiction, action, drama, and comedy with a hard-hitting narrative, we aim to create a completely original look, feel, and tempo. Almost every aspect of the film's production-- concept, writing, pre-production, acting, shooting, editing, marketing, and distribution-- are handled by Stebs, Trevor, and their friends. This is truly a passion project.

Project Angel Food's mission is to nourish the body and spirit of men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.
Project Angel Food cooks and delivers meals designed by registered dieticians and cooked by professional chefs and devoted volunteers with quality ingredients. Our meals are delivered to clients' homes, free-of-charge, by volunteers and staff who are often the only human contact a client will have in a day.
In 1989, Project Angel Food was conceived by a group of caring friends driven to action after witnessing their loved ones' health deteriorate as a result of disease and the malnutrition that accompanies it. The first meals were cooked and delivered out of a donated church kitchen. Twenty years later, Project Angel Food is a nationally-respected organization with an involved Board of Directors, a professional staff and more than 1,500 active volunteers. Today, Project Angel Food cooks and delivers more than 10,000 meals a week to 1,600 clients for whom a healthy meal, delivered with a warm smile, is truly life-saving.

WOW..
I guess someone does still read my blog.
The last post I made about the Nike Bespoke's was just me seeing something, being annoyed and writing about it. I could see both sides of the argument about X top stitching being used on AF1's. I surely didn't create top stitching so I shouldn't be protective of it. I guess just seeing these yellow Nike Bespoke's below rubbed me the wrong way and now all X top stitching on AF1's rub me the wrong way. I have had plenty of good experiences working with Nike in the past but I felt like making a post about this so I can share my opinion and move on.
My design that came out before the yellow shoe above.

NIKE BESPOKE = FAKE KAWS SHOES (again)
Yep, I guess NIKE Bespoke is letting people make shoes with my X stitch design from 2007. They did this a year ago and when I questioned them they did the right thing and took the option down. I don't understand why more of these are popping up...
I really can't get mad at people who use this option, I just think it's lame that it is an option.

Torrance Art Museum "The Reflected Gaze"
The Reflected Gaze - Self Portraiture Today
Curated by Max Presneill
January 16 - February 20, 2010
Opening Reception January 16, 6:00pm - 9:00pm
The Torrance Art Musem opens its 2010 schedule with another ambitious show based on self portraits. Artists included are Justin Bower, Chuck Close, Emily Counts, Ariel Erestingcol, Mark Greenwold, Julie Heffernan, Damien Hirst, Per Huttner, KAWS, Tom LaDuke, Hung Liu, Jennifer Nehrbass, Gavin Nolan, Fahamu Pecou, Dane Picard, Frank Ryan, Peter Sudar, Terri Thomas, Holly Topping, Alexandra Wiesenfeld, Cindy Wright and Liat Yossifor
From TAM: "One of the basic primary forms of painting is the self-portrait. With a long and distinguished history the self-portrait has told us about people, their times and their attitudes. They tell us of scrutiny, of desire, of ego and of the passage of time too, but they can also seem like a whispered secret sometimes, that winks knowingly to us of shared knowledge and experiences and has the added frisson for us of knowing that this is the artist 'talking' directly to us through time and geography. A great self-portrait tells you something of the artist but of ourselves too."

schedules to contribute was awesome, so thank you. Another
great part about this project was that I interviewed Nigo - my first time as
interviewer. I got to be really open and ask him a bunch of things I wanted
to know about in the past, but was too polite to ask. To top it all off, the
printing job on the issue was amazing. The cover and inside spreads look
super bright and clean. A special thanks to Terry and Tricia Jones, and
again to everyone at i-D and to those who contributed...
Business As Usual
Edison Chen stopped by the studio yesterday to get lunch and catch up.

I went to see the Tadanori Yokoo Be Adventurous! exhibition at Setagaya Art Museum with Katayama from Wonderwall.
It was a really amazing show including many original drawings from the '60's and '70's. There's also an excellent catalogue that was published for the exhibition. Ends 6/15/08, so try to see it, it's definitely worth the trip!

We also went to Takashi Murakami's "Geisai Museum #2"

Clot X OriginalFake X Shu Qi
Clot invited several actresses to collaborate with them for a special "Fantasy" t-shirt series. This time around the actress was Shu Qi and I was asked to work over the photo for a special New Years release.
KAWS HASHEEM
This is a new figure I made with the Japanese artist Santa Inoue. I liked Hasheem long before I met Santa, but after meeting him in Tokyo through our mutual friend Oka, I got to see his studio and ended up really getting along with him. I'm glad we were able to collaborate on this together.
Hasheeme will release at Santastic and OriginalFake this Saturday in Tokyo, and at kawsone.com tomorrow (12/21) at noon.
Mascots & Mugs: The Characters and Cartoons of Subway Graffiti
This past Monday night I went to the release party for a new book "Mascots & Mugs" by
Todd "Reas" James & David "Chino" Villorente. This book focuses on the
